David Stolper did not take his own life, says the sister of the psychrights activist who was alleged to have killed himself with an act of suicide. “My brother was trying to climb down to the balconey below, and must have either slipped, or thought he could “float” somehow” said Brianne Stolper in an email forwarded to Cape Town Mad Pride. Stolper’s sister also says a witness saw her brother on the balconey of their Sea Point flat and the entire thing was a tragic accident. The father of the slain activist, Chad Stolper however, claims his son was in a “manic state”. Psychiatric medication could also be the cause of death. The results of the official inquest into Stolper’s death have yet to be made public, and Cape Town Mad Pride therefore urges all concerned to release more information as it becomes available in order to quell the initial rumours and reports about Stolper’s apparent suicide so the matter may be put to rest.
